Brian May rejects "Rock Star" rumours
Some people are wondering whether Queen will be the next band featured on the Rock Star TV series, but Brian May says forget about it. On the official brianmay.com website, the guitarist wrote, "Ha! Apparently they are voting on us being in the next show?!!! Ha! Ha! Can you imagine? I don't think so! For any number of reasons...so don't bother voting for us, folks!! I mean, REALLY!!! (as Fred [Mercury] would have said!)."
Guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor of Queen have toured extensively this year in Europe with Bad Company frontman Paul Rodgers on lead vocals. They recently put out a live album called Return Of The Champions and a DVD is on the way. Two US shows will be played next month, and the group is planning a major North American tour next year.
Rock Star producer Mark Burnett, the man behind Survivor and The Apprentice, told The Edmonton Sun that Queen and Van Halen are among the bands who need a frontman, but he stopped short of announcing either one as doing the show. Burnett also said the show could wind up putting together an all-new group.
INXS used the show to pick J.D. Fortune to be their frontman. Their first single is "Dirty Vegas," which Fortune sang on Rock Star a few times, and it will be available on iTunes next Tuesday (October 4th). A new album called Switch will be released November 29th, and a tour will star in January.

On Sunday night (October 16th), Queen + Paul Rodgers played their first-ever US show. A packed Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey, saw Queen and Rodgers pull from both their catalogues during a show that lasted over two hours, including Queen classics such as "Bohemian Rhapsody," "We Will Rock You", "We Are The Champions," and "Fat Bottomed Girls," along with Rodgers standards like Bad Company's "Feel Like Makin' Love" and "Rock And Roll Fantasy" and Free's "All Right Now." The band's only other US show for this year is on Saturday (October 22nd) at The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, after which they play a series of dates in Japan, though there are reports of a proper North American tour for next year.
Backstage after the concert, Rodgers exclusively told us that the show went great:
"Well, it went remarkably well, actually. When we finished rehearsing, we sort of went, 'OK, we like it - let's go and see if the people like it,' you know? So each area that we've gone into, we've gone into full-on, but wondering how we're gonna go down here, you know? And it's been just remarkable."
The show drew a cross-section of famous folks, including actor Tim Curry and rockers Billy Squier, ex-Rainbow frontman Joe Lynn Turner, Vanilla Fudge drummer Carmine Appice, Twisted Sister guitarist Eddie Ojeda, and Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliott, who's an old friend of guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor. Elliott exclusively gave us this review of the concert:
"I loved it. This is the second time I've seen this tour - I saw them in Dublin, just before we started the baseball stadium tour this summer, and I thought it was phenomenal. And tonight, seeing 'em in front of this many people is just a beautiful thing. I'm so glad they're still doing it." _________________

Nic dziwnego. W końcu Queen to grupa wybitnie koncertowa .
http://muzyka.onet.pl/mr,1166106,wiadomosci.html
Legendarni rockmani stworzyli 61 takich piosenek w swojej 37-letniej historii. To o dziewięć singli więcej niż druga w zestawieniu grupa Queen. Trzecie miejsce - za skomponowanie 51 przebojów - zajmują ex aequo formacje The Rolling Stones i UB40.
Francis Rossi i Rick Parfitt pierwszy raz trafili na listy przebojów w 1968 roku dzięki piosence "Pictures Of Matchstick Men". Ostatnim ich znanym z list utworem jest "You'll Come Around" z 2004 roku.
Oto pierwsza dziesiątka w tym zestawieniu:
1. Status Quo - 61
2. Queen - 52
3. The Rolling Stones - 51

Bryan Adams broke a Guinness World Record this week by auctioning off the most expensive guitar in history for 1.6 million dollars. After last year's tsunami in southeast Asia, the Canadian started getting musicians to sign the white Stratocaster in hopes of raising money for relief efforts. Just in the last year, it has been signed by nearly 20 legends, including Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Brian May, Jimmy Page, David Gilmour, Jeff Beck, Pete Townshend, Mark Knopfler, Ray Davies, Liam and Noel Gallagher of Oasis, Ronnie Wood, Tony Iommi, Angus and Malcolm Young of AC/DC, Paul McCartney, Sting, Ritchie Blackmore, Def Leppard and Adams himself.
The guitar, which was donated by Fender, was auctioned off earlier this year for more than $150,000. It was re-auctioned this week and bought for more than $1.6 million. All proceeds will go towards the Reach Out To Asia Foundation.
Adams was the guest of honor at Wednesday's (November 16th) inaugural Reach Out To Asia charity fundraiser in the Qatari capital, Doha. He recently released Anthology, celebrating his 25th anniversary as a recording artist. Along with all of his hits, the two-disc set features a newly-recorded duet with Pamela Anderson.

Wiadomość dotyczy nowego albumu "The Darkness".
Polecam! _________________

(...) Justin Hawkins plays the same piano Freddie Mercury used for "Bohemian Rhapsody" on the new Darkness album, he has revealed.
Hawkins has been speaking about his favourite song on the new LP, "One Way Ticket To Hell (And Back)", which he says is called "English Country Garden".
Explaining his choice, Hawkins explained: "The piano you listen to is actually the same piano that was played on 'Bohemian Rhapsody' by Freddie Mercury.
"I'm playing all the synthesisers and it's got my favourite guitar solo of all I've done," said Hawkins, who clearly counts Mercury and Queen as a significant influence on The Darkness. (...)

People are generally happy about Queen + Paul Rodgers doing a lengthy North American tour next year, but there's been one source of complaints - the ticket prices. The best seats aren't cheap, and while guitarist Brian May wrote on his official brianmay.com website that he's not involved in the money aspect of the tour, he said it could have been worse. May wrote, "Well, I sympathize, guys, but I know our tickets are nowhere near as expensive as the (Rolling) Stones, or Elton (John), or whatever (they COULD be!)...We've made a decision to work indoors rather than outdoors, so that the fans get a better show. Most bands elect to go out and do the 'sheds' in the summer to make money. This is about doing the maximum show that is possible, in arenas which are conducive to a show of the magnitude of ours. Of course the capacities are less this way, so ticket prices will be higher...but sound-wise, view-wise, and show-wise, I'll personally guarantee it will be worth it!"
May added, "It seems there are always complaints when the tickets go on sale. All I can say is we don't get many complaints AFTER the shows!"
Rodgers and Queen will kick things off March 3rd in Miami, and they've got dates booked well into April.
The band did extensive tours of Europe and Japan this year, but they've only played two shows in the US so far.

Queen guitarist Brian May was honored at Buckingham Palace in London on Tuesday, December 6th. May was joined by his wife and son at a ceremony where he received his Commander Of The Order Of The British Empire (CBE) award. He was presented with a medal by Queen Elizabeth II, who referenced his roof-top performance of "God Save The Queen" at her 2002 jubilee celebration when she said, "It's a bit warmer down here than on the roof, isn't it?" The Queen also awarded British broadcaster Terry Wogan his honorary knighthood at the event.
May, drummer Roger Taylor, and vocalist Paul Rodgers have a North American tour scheduled for March and April 2006. _________________
